The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a warning regarding two videos claiming to be associated with the agency in relation to election security.
One video states that the FBI has apprehended three groups linked to ballot fraud, while the second video pertains to the Second Gentleman.
The FBI in a statement on Sunday confirmed that these videos are not authentic and that the content they depict is false.
“Election integrity is among our highest priorities,” the FBI stated.
The FBI said it is actively collaborating with state and local law enforcement partners to address election threats and ensure the safety of communities as Americans exercise their right to vote.
The bureau emphasised that “attempts to deceive the public with false content about FBI operations undermines our democratic process and aims to erode trust in the electoral system.”
The agency urges the public to obtain election and voting information from reliable sources, such as local election offices.
They also encourage individuals to report any suspected criminal activity to state or local law enforcement or to their local FBI field office.
The statement reads, “The FBI is aware of two videos falsely claiming to be from the FBI relating to election security, one stating the FBI has apprehended three linked groups committing ballot fraud and a second relating to the Second Gentleman. These videos are not authentic, are not from the FBI, and the content they depict is false.
“Election integrity is among our highest priorities, and the FBI is working closely with state and local law enforcement partners to respond to election threats and protect our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote.”
