In a shocking development, ECG Okechukwu, Esq, a Former Chairman of the NBA Awka branch, Anambra State, has been arraigned at the Awka Magistrate Court on charges related to sexual offenses.
The lawyer stands accused of procuring three underaged girls, aged between eight and ten years, from Ebonyi State and housing them in his brothel named Happiness Guest House in Amawbia.
According to the allegations brought before the Court, Okechukwu not only sexually molested the young girls himself but also offered them to his customers who frequented his brothel.
The disturbing nature of the case came to light when one of the customers noticed severe bruises on one of the girls’ bodies while attempting to engage in sexual acts. Upon questioning, the girl revealed that the bruises were inflicted upon her in the brothel when she resisted the sexual advances of other patrons.
The customer then took the initiative to contact the girl’s parents, leading to their involvement and subsequent arrest of everyone present in the brothel, including the senior lawyer. Today, Okechukwu was formally charged in court.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, ECG Okechukwu, Esq., was previously the chairman of the NBA Awka Branch, a position of authority within the legal community. Additionally, he holds the revered and prestigious ozo title of Awka town. It is noteworthy that the lawyer is currently serving a one-year suspension from the ozo society of Awka due to a previous allegation of sexually defiling a thirteen-year-old girl last year.
