Ekiti State Government has commenced renovation work at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.
The Oluyemi Kayode Stadium is the home ground of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and Nationwide League One clubs, Ekiti Queens and Ekiti United.
The stadium’s playing turf would be replaced with synthetic grass.
“Work started since last week and we have been seeing the hand of the governor in renovating the pitch to put it in a better shape to meet FIFA standard,” Director of Facility, Ekiti State Sports Commission, Odeyemi Michael told Fountain Times.
“The scope of the work covers the football pitch presently but other things might follow later and the plan of the government is to lay a synthetic turf.”
Ekiti Queens will have to adopt a new ground for their home games pending the completion of the renovation work.
