Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare II, has appointed the outgoing Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Esohe

,into the Benin Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC).

Oba Ewuare II announced the retiring chief judge’s appointment after the monarch honoured her with the traditional Royal IKELE (ring bead) when she led senior Judges to inform the monarch of her official disengagement from service

The monarch explained that the honour was largely due to her track records in service without blemish.

He stated that her integrity and fearless contribution in the judicial field was laudable.

Justice Ikponmwen became the first Benin woman to serve in the royal traditional courtyard.

The elated outgoing Chief Justice said her success in office was due to the prayers and overwhelming support of the monarch.

Justice Ikponmwen was called to bar in 1979 and appointed chief judge of the state on January 26, 2017.

The outgoing Chief Judge would officially disengage from service on November 22, 2019.
