The Bill for an Act to amend the Legal Practitioners Act which is pending before the National Assembly has proposed the inclusion of politicians as members of the Body of Benchers.

Section 1(3) of the Bill Proposes the inclusion of Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairmen of the National Assembly Committees on Judiciary.

LEGALDESKNG  learnt that Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOB) has been asked to approve it so that it will proceed smoothly and BOSAN intends to approve it at their meeting of 5th Sept 2020 even when the Bar has not been asked to review it.

The Body of Benchers is a body that regulates the call of graduate of law school to the Nigerian Bar as well as the regulation of the legal profession in Nigeria.
