Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar has issued a directive to Nigerian troops engaged in Operation Fansar Yamma to eliminate the threat posed by notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
Addressing troops at the One Brigade Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, Abubakar emphasized the importance of their mission, relaying President Bola Tinubu’s recognition of recent security improvements but also the continued urgency of tackling lingering threats.
Expressing Tinubu’s support, Abubakar assured the troops that the government is prepared to provide necessary resources to completely eradicate insecurity in the Northwest and across the country. Confident in the soldiers’ ability, he challenged them with a clear mission: “Are you ready to finish with them? Are you ready to end it? Please get me Turji.”
The minister’s address was witnessed by notable dignitaries, including the Commander of Joint Taskforce Northwest Operation Fansar Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, and Zamfara’s Deputy Governor Mani Mumun, underscoring the significance of this mission in the region’s broader security efforts.
