The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice I. A. Iyayi Laminkara, has released a new Practice Direction to “ensure continuous and efficient administration of justice, to bring about ease in doing business with the Judiciary in Rivers State; and guaranteeing timely and efficient disposal of cases through the use of available technology.”
The Practice Direction shall apply to cases before Judicial Divisions, Magisterial Districts in Rivers State except otherwise directed by the Chief Judge in writing and shall come into force from the 22nd day of May, 2020.
It was made Pursuant to Section 272 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and all other powers enabling him in that behalf
The Practice Direction provides for e-filing of cases. Hearing of cases shall be physical or done remotely. In physical hearing of cases, social distancing in court shall be observed.
