Lawyers have been exempted from the lock-down order in Rivers State.

This is contained in a letter to the Commissioner of Police of the state signed by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of the State, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, MCIArb, KSC.

In the letter which was sighted by (LDN), the learned AG said:

“I write to draw your attention to the provisions of paragraph 10 of Executive Order – RVSG-06 of 2020 which exempts courts of law from the Lockdown (restriction of human and vehicular movement) Order in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas. Attached herewith is a copy of the Rivers State of Nigeria Official Gazette No. 11, Vol. 56 of 4th May, 2020.”

The AG, therefore, advised the Commissioner of Police to grant passage to lawyers who have evidence of identification.

“Consequently, you are advised to grant free passage to every legal practitioner who provides convincing evidence of identification and engagement in court proceedings.”
