The Chief magistrate court of Niger State, Suleja Magisterial District, yesterday issued a bench warrant to three accused Nigerian police officers currently serving at C division police command, madalla, Niger State through the office of the Area Commander, Suleja command.

Newsmen gathered that the 3 accused members of police force were said to have on the 28th of February 2021 treated a senior lawyer like a common criminal at the madalla police station. The said lawyer Barr. Clifford Oba was tortured, intimidated, assaulted by the 3 accused persons who also handcuffed and detained him unlawfully.

In her ruling after listening to the complainant counsel J.M Kallamu Esq. who led other 32 lawyers, the presiding Magistrate, Hon. Magistrate Aisha Zakari issued a bench warrant against the three accused Nigeria police officers to appear in the court on or before the the 15th day of March, 2021 to answer all the allegations levelled against them.

Reacting to the ruling of the court, the NBA members, Suleja branch unanimously stated that they want justice to be given on the matter as no one is above the law.

One of the Senior lawyers who spoke, noted that when the NBA took up the case and “in an effort to serve the police, they evaded service thinking that they are above the law, which is not the case.”

Another NBA member while commending the court urged the Area commander to respect his office and produce the suspects.

The brutalised lawyer while recounting his ordeal in the hands of the police noted that the transaction which his client was arrested for was a civil one. He narrated how the IPO told him that he was investigating 2 count charges and that his client would not be released because the bail money he paid was for one count charge and is yet to pay for the second count charge.

Newsmen learnt that the 3 accused persons are isiaku zoddi, Yakubu and Bulus of the Nigerian police force currently serving at the C division mandalla police command
