In Nigeria, Autopsy examination may only be conducted in the following instances:

(a) the deceased while alive gave consent to it.

(b) the child, parent, sibling or guardian of the deceased not below 18 years, gave consent to it.

(c) the examination is necessary to ascertain the cause of death.
