Chidimma Adetshina, the reigning Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, has touched down in Mexico, where she will compete on the global stage for the Miss Universe 2024 crown.
Ben Bruce, Founder of the Silverbird Group, announced her arrival with a tweet on X late Wednesday.
He wrote, “Mexico here we come. Countdown to Miss Universe 2024, with Miss Chidimma Adetshina.”
The Nigerian beauty queen, born in 2001 to a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother in Soweto, South Africa, will represent Nigeria at the prestigious event, set for November 16 at Arena CDMX, Mexico City.
In a video shared on Instagram by Miss Universe Nigeria organisers, Chidimma was seen proudly holding the Nigerian flag at a Mexican airport.
Captioning the video, the organisers wrote, “We send our brightest wishes and unwavering support! May Nigeria’s vibrant spirit shine through you. Represent us with pride, strength, and grace. Bring home the crown!”
Chidimma’s path to Miss Universe has not been without controversy. She previously entered the Miss South Africa pageant but withdrew following criticism of her nationality and allegations from South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs concerning her mother’s documents.
She was later invited to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria and emerged as the winner of the beauty pageant ahead of 24 other contestants.
