President Muhammadu Buhari has urged governors to meet with the Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, over the floods wreaking havoc in states.
The President charged them to agree on solutions and escalate their conclusions to the federal government.
Buhari spoke on Friday at State House, while hosting the outgoing Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Chairman and Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi.
At the parley were incoming Interim Chairman, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, and Interim Deputy Chairman, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi.
The governors said lives have been lost, homes and farmlands washed away in Kogi, Yobe, Jigawa, and others, and requested special federal funding.
Fayemi, who leaves office later this month, thanked the President for supporting him as Ekiti helmsman, as well as his colleagues.
“You always accorded us due regard. You accommodated us, and listened to our pleas.
You were always there for us when we had challenges, individually, or collectively. We owe you a debt of gratitude”, he added.
