The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has fixed Friday, October 29, for ruling on an appeal brought by the suspended Chairman of the PDP Prince Uche Secondus against the party and 12 others.

Secondus is seeking the suspension of the forthcoming national convention of the party scheduled for this weekend pending the determination of the substantive appeal.

The three-man appeal panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, fixed the date after counsels to the parties argued and adopted their final written addresses.

During the proceeding on Thursday plaintiff’s counsel Payo Oyetibo, SAN said it will amount to “pulling off the drug under the feet of appellant” if the application of his client to suspend the convention is refused.

However, counsel to the 1st to 5th respondents, Henry Bello opposed the submission of Secondus’ lawyer, noting that the prayer by Secondus was alien to the existing appeal before the panel which borders on the leadership and membership of Secondus in the party.

The suit was in the last sitting on Tuesday adjourned till 28 October for hearing and possible ruling after six other parties indicated interest and were granted the leave to join in the suit.
