Business activities were on Wednesday paralyzed in Ebonyi State in honour of the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOIB, in Abuja.

Kanu was accused of various offences, including treasonable felony and terrorism, offences he allegedly committed in the course of his separatist campaigns.

DAILY POST observed that the state judiciary, banks, fuel stations and major markets were shut down.

A greater number of civil servants in the state refused to go work to avert being attacked by unknown hoodlums that terrorize south east region.

Our correspondent, who moved round the state capital to monitor the level of compliance of people to the sit-at-home allegedly declared by IPOB to honour the arraignment of its national leader, observed that there was 80 per cent compliance.

It was gathered that shops located in major streets, especially at Vanco, Spirando junctions were shut down for fear of destruction and possible looting of their belongings by hoodlums.

However, major federal roads, as well as streets, were deserted by people, while few others were seen to be discussing the trail of the leader of the IPOB, Kanu.

It was gathered that there was no court sitting today in Ebonyi State as the gates of the state judiciary, as well as other parastatals, were under lock and key as a result of fear of attacks by the unknown gunmen.
