In a revealing interview with Channels TV earlier today, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu confidently declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands united and ready for the forthcoming elections.
This declaration comes on the heels of the weekend’s inauguration of the APC Directorate Committee, a significant event underscoring the party’s discipline and cohesion. The presence of all primary contestants—Pastor Ize-Iyamu, Lucky Imasuen, Gen Charles Airhiavbere, Ernest Afolabi, and Col Imuse—as well as notable figures like Adams Oshiomhole, the Minister of Niger Delta Development, highlighted that any internal disputes have been resolved, and everyone is now focused on working for the party’s success.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu highlighted the electorate’s consensus that the APC’s youthful governorship and deputy candidates embody the fresh leadership the state needs. He explained the delay in the campaign council’s inauguration was due to the overwhelming desire for participation from party members and new supporters from the opposition, reflecting the APC’s growing appeal.
During the interview, Ize-Iyamu confirmed the unwavering support of Philip Shaibu for the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Shaibu’s endorsement, according to Ize-Iyamu, stems from his admiration for Okpebholo’s humility and leadership qualities.
Ize-Iyamu also criticized Governor Obaseki’s administration, describing it as underperforming and a burden to the PDP and its gubernatorial candidate. He emphasized that Edo State has suffered under Obaseki’s leadership, becoming the most indebted state in the South-South region due to alleged incompetence.
He assured voters that Oshiomhole, chairman of the campaign council, is fully backing Okpebholo, asserting that aligning with the federal government under President Tinubu will bring significant benefits to the state.
Reflecting on Okpebholo’s track record, Ize-Iyamu pointed to numerous projects the senator has completed for his constituents, arguing that his proven dedication and achievements make him the ideal candidate to lead Edo State. He urged the electorate to judge by the tangible results, quoting, “by their fruits, you shall know them.”
As the campaign heats up, Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s message is clear: the APC is a cohesive family ready to lead Edo State to a brighter future with Senator Monday Okpebholo at the helm.
