The Caretaker Chairman, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, Hon Abraham Agber has been released from custody by the police.
Hon Agber was arrested about one month ago by operatives of the Inspector General of Police, Rapid Response Squad, IGP-RRS, over an allegation of attempting to assassinate the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh.
Addressing a mammoth crowd after his release from detention in Gboko, Agber thanked the people for their prayers, show of love and urged them to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
Receiving the Chairman at the palace of the kindred head of Gboko East, Chief Orafaga Dem, the President General of Ipav Community Development Association, Tyov Ugese, kindred head of Gboko South, HRH, Chief Akpam Abeke, Committee Chairman Ipav Community, Mr. Terpase Kundam, Elder Asongo Dogo, among many others, commended the people for rising to the occasion when it mattered most and and thanked God that the chairman had breathed the air of freedom.
The community leaders advised the people of Gboko to remain calm as the allegations against the chairman would be investigated.
Earlier, presenting the Chairman to the Ipav council, an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in Gboko, Elder Atsenda warned politicians, especially the youths, supporters and associates of the Chairman never to use his name to fight their personal battles with opponents.
Meanwhile, the Ipav community took Hon Agber to the palace of Ter Gboko, where they presented him to the royal father, Chief Gabriel Shosun and his council of chiefs for blessing.
When the Chairman arrived Gboko, the deputy Chairman who held sway in his absence did not turn up to receive him.
