The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has lodged a petition with the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC), seeking an investigation into senior legal practitioners Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, P. I. N. Ikwueto, SAN, and Victor Agunzi, Esq., for actions deemed unbecoming of high-ranking lawyers.
In a petition signed by APGA National Secretary Muhyideen Imam, the party accused the lawyers of flouting court orders, including rulings from the Supreme Court, in their representation of Chief Victor Ike Oye. The petition claims these lawyers have misled their client, contributing to ongoing legal battles that threaten the integrity of the judiciary.
APGA highlighted that the senior lawyers’ actions have not only disregarded the rule of law but also perpetuated a cycle of litigation that undermines judicial authority. They referred to instances where their client has disobeyed Supreme Court judgments, arguing that such behavior reflects poorly on the legal profession and damages public trust in the judiciary.
The petition cites ongoing cases at the Federal High Court as further evidence of the lawyers’ alleged misconduct, emphasizing the need for the LPDC to take decisive action to maintain the integrity of legal practice in Nigeria.
