The Anambra State House of Assembly has commended Governor Willie Obiano for the steadfastness and stoicism he has exhibited in the fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

The lawmakers who took turns to give the governor a pat on his back, unanimously concurred that the governor really proved his avowed commitment to uphold his constitutional obligations to protect as well as safeguard the lives and properties of the citizenry as evident in the dexterity and discreet manner the Covid-19 index case was handled in the state.

The lawmaker representing Orumba-North state constituency and chairman committee on public petitions Hon.Emeka Aforka said that the governor deserved commendations especially for the provision of palliatives for all the communites in Anambra state.

Aforka explained that the governor made bags of rice and other food palliatives available and also ensured that the items got to the original beneficiaries in the hinterlands to cushion the effects of hunger and hardships on the rural populace.

Ejiofor Ebele Leonard of Anaocha one state constituency who noted that the Covid19 index case was a native of his constituency, revealed that the index case confided in him that he received the best of medical care while at the isolation centre and that the state government should be commended for its proactive health Policies.

Ejiofor also commended the state commissioner for health Dr. Vincent Ogochukwu Okpala for being at the forefront of the advocacy and sensitisation againtst the spread of Covid19 infections in the state .

He said that the index case attested to the humane attitudes of the health commissioner in attending to him at the isolation centre, stressing that the state has been so proactive in the prevention of coronavirus disease even as he charged the state government to maintain its zero covid19 status.

Ruling on the proceedings, the Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Uche Victor Okafor lent credence to the commendations showered on the state governor; saying that in spite of the pandemic, the governor has gone ahead with his official assignments.
