Job Summary

This role will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal advice and strategic guidance to our clients across various industries.
Collaborating with a team of skilled professionals, including partners and associates, you will contribute to delivering exceptional legal services while fostering the growth and success of our firm.
Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership (Supervisory): Lead and supervise junior associates, delegating tasks and ensuring the quality and accuracy of their work products.

Client Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business objectives, and providing practical legal advice tailored to their unique needs.
Legal Strategy and Advisory: Offer expert legal guidance on a broad range of business matters, including contract negotiations, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and commercial transactions.
Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and present well-reasoned recommendations to clients and internal teams.
Transactions Management: Manage and guide junior associates in client meetings and calls, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up on action items.
Project Management: Supervise significant legal matters, ensuring that all deliverables are of high quality and deadlines are met. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally, to execute complex projects and transactions and ensure project budgets and timelines are aligned.
Business Development: Contribute to business development efforts by participating in client pitches, preparing proposals, and identifying opportunities for expanding client relationships and attracting new clients.
Drafting and Review: Develop and review legal documents such as contracts, agreements, policies, and legal opinions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with client objectives.
Due Diligence: Assist in conducting due diligence investigations, assessing risks, and providing recommendations during business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with partners, associates, and cross-functional teams to support the delivery of high-quality legal services and contribute to the professional development of junior team members.
Industry Knowledge: Stay up to date with legal developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends relevant to the clients’ sectors, sharing knowledge within the team and leveraging it to provide proactive legal advice.
Thought Leadership: Be actively involved with publishing articles, delivering presentations, and participating in conferences to enhance the firm’s reputation and position as a thought leader in the field.
Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to the Business Advisory practice.
Fulfilling Other Responsibilities as Delegated or Assigned: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Job Experience

Qualification / Skills Required:

Bachelor’s degree in law from an accredited institution. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
Admitted to the Nigerian bar.
Minimum of 7 years post-call experience as a lawyer in a reputable law firm or in-house counsel, with a strong focus on commercial and corporate advisory transactions.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of corporate and commercial law, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions.
Exhibit exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify legal issues, evaluate risks, and develop effective solutions for clients.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
Work effectively within a team environment, collaborating with colleagues at all levels and contributing to a positive and inclusive work culture.
Display strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
