As the Eastern Bar Forum (of the Nigerian Bar Association) meets this weekend in the Garden City of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, I congratulate (again) the new leadership led by HE (Governor) Soseipriye Long Williams – the Chairman of the Governing Council of the EBF.
In the short time since assuming office, the EBF Governor has demonstrated clear signs of purposeful leadership and a renewed direction for the Forum.
Although the focus of the Forum is primarily to cater for the interest of its members within the larger body of the Nigerian Bar Association, the perilous times in which we live warrant that the EBF takes a more active interest in the affairs of our beleaguered country.
I, therefore, urge members and friends of EBF as we all converge in Port Harcourt to include issues of compelling national urgency in the deliberations. As the most structured and vibrant regional fora within the NBA, the EBF must lead the discourse, identify the problems and begin to proffer solutions.
Journey mercies to and fro to all traveling delegates, and greetings to our reputedly warm and gracious Port-Harcourt hosts.
Felicitations,
Alex Muoka
