Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced the names of the chairmen and vice-chairmen of the standing committees of the Senate. The announcement was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, August 7, 2023, after the Senate resumed from a break, commencing at 9:59 pm and concluding at 10:47 pm.

Among the notable appointments, Senator Adams Oshiomhole of APC, representing Edo North, has been appointed Chairman of the Committee on Interior. Senator Sani Musa, also from APC and representing Niger East, is appointed as Chairman of the Committee on Finance. Other significant appointments include Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (APC, Oyo North) as Chairman of the Committee on Aviation, Osita Izunaso (APC) as Chairman of the Committee on Capital Market, Seriake Dickson as Chairman of the Committee on Ecology, and Neda Imasuen (LP, Edo South) as Chairman of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions. Additionally, Aminu Tambuwal has been appointed Chairman of the Housing Committee.

In other news, the Senate has adjourned plenary until September 26th, marking the start of its long vacation.
