Dr Mike Ozekhome, SAN is a scholar-practitioner and the founding partner of a boutique law firm in Nigeria. He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a renowned expert in constitutional law, human rights, and business law. He has acted as the lead defence counsel in many complex disputes involving human rights.
He is well sought after for his authoritative knowledge of law and his scholarly abilities in critiquing contemporary social and legal problems in Nigeria. He is frequently consulted to advise on heavyweight matters involving investor-state arbitration disputes: he regularly advises on the grave repercussions of poorly negotiated bilateral investment treaties that functionally deepen the economic crisis of Nigeria and other developing countries.
In Nigeria, Dr Ozekhome is fondly called the ‘Senior Advocate of the Masses’, precisely due to his passion and relentless efforts in pointing out issues of bad governance within the three arms of government through his regular commentaries on national televisions and newspaper articles.
He has authored many scholarly works on rule of law and business law, which are the typical areas from which the issues affecting Nigeria and Africa frequently arise. Dr Ozekhome is happily married with children.
