Olawunmi Adeola has been elected as the first female Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikorodu Branch.
Adeola secured the position after a closely contested election, defeating two male contenders, Ezekiel Ogbeide and Debowale Aromolaran, breaking the glass ceiling in the branch’s leadership.
The election, which took place on Monday, saw a high turnout of lawyers eager to cast their votes.
Adeola’s campaign platform, which focused on promoting gender equality, enhancing professional development opportunities, and strengthening the branch’s community outreach programs, resonated with the majority of voters.
