The newly established Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Surulere Branch conducted its inaugural election on Friday, July 12, 2024, at its Secretariat located at No. 14, Babatunde Street, off Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos State.
The election, overseen by the Caretaker Committee of the new Branch, which also served as the Electoral Committee under the leadership of Adeleke Agbola SAN, was reportedly hitch-free, seamless, and successful.
The election results saw Anene Nwadukwe Esq. emerge as the Chairman, while Henry Obinna Ezeanyim Esq. secured the position of Vice-Chairman unopposed. Enomma Umoren Mbanugo Esq. was elected as Secretary, and Raqeeba Oloko Esq. became the Assistant Secretary unopposed. Other elected officials include Maureen Ogochukwu Umejiego Esq. as Treasurer, Salami Tajudeen Agbaje Esq. as Financial Secretary, Felicia Chikere Nosike Esq. as Welfare Secretary, Okuwobi Olusola Mayowa Esq. as Publicity Secretary, Florence Ekwutosi Chijioke Duru Esq. as Social Secretary, and Kingsley Etim Ebimor Esq. as Provost, all of whom were unopposed.
Adeleke Agbola SAN, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee and Electoral Committee, expressed gratitude to the NBA Surulere Branch electorates for their cooperation in the peaceful conduct of the election. He congratulated the winners and urged them to be magnanimous in victory while appreciating the losers for their gallantry, emphasizing that failure is merely a postponed success.
Agbola also acknowledged the efforts of the former Surulere Lawyers’ Forum in facilitating a smooth transition from a forum to a Branch, which culminated in the election. He wished the newly elected NBA Surulere Branch Executives a successful and impactful tenure.
The Caretaker Committee members include Adeleke Agbola SAN as Chairman, Jane Asim-Ita Esq. as Secretary, His Honor Rosemary Akinbo (Rtd) as Member, Chuks Collins Adimonye Esq. as Member, and Peter Ozobialu Esq. as Member.
