Honorable Justice Adesanya of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Lagos on 4th of November 2021, resumed hearing on the case of the Killers of popular Anambra billionaire and major distributor of Fireman Generator, Chief Ignatius Odunukwe.
The three accused persons Daniel Ibeaji, Uzor Igwe Arinze, and Cletus Solomon were produced in Court, by the Nigerian Correctional Centre Ikoyi, Lagos.
The State prosecutor however informed the court that his two witnesses to be produced on the day were not in court as they had to make urgent trips outside the state. He however informed the court that he had an application to bring in additional witnesses in order to invite witnesses would give material evidence in the course of the trial.
Although his Lordship, obliged the prosecutor’s request to bring additional witnesses, Justice Adesanya expressed displeasure at the delay by the prosecution noting that the case has suffered too many delays.
The Judge also stated that the Prosecution ought to have brought other witnesses if two were outside the State and ordered the prosecution to ensure that its witnesses are present and ready to proceed with trial on the next adjourned date.
Consequently, the matter was adjourned to 9th November, for the continuation of the hearing. The Defendants are to continue to be remanded in custody.
Legaldeskng, recalls that emotion ran high at Ogombo forest, Ajah, Lagos, where the decomposing body of popular Abuja businessman, Chief Ignatius Odunukwe, was recovered, following a startling revelation by the prime suspect, Daniel Bob Ibeaji, on how the businessman was lured to his death.
He further revealed how he conspired with three others: Arinze Igwe, 26; Solomon Cletus 30 and Israel Obigaremu, 35, to snuff life out of Odunukwe at Artican Beach Resort, in Ajah area of Lagos, on December 1, 2019.
Ibeaji who claimed to have studied Medicine and Surgery in Edinburgh, the United Kingdom, disclosed that the deceased was first hit with an axe on the head, injected with an excess dose of a lethal Injection that weakened him before he was strangled to his death.
