An eyewitness told DAILY POST that there were other travelers who also ran into the robbers but it is not yet clear the actual number of persons whisked away by the yet-to be apprehended herdsmen.

A university source who pleaded anonymity, said the victims ran into the bandits who began to shoot sporadically, thus forcing the vehicles in which the victims were traveling to a halt.

He said ABSU management is currently monitoring the incident.

The Imo State police spokesman Michael Abattam, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

Abattam said the incident is a robbery attack not kidnapping. He assured that investigations are in top gear to fish out perpetrators.
