The problem is just the inhuman killings or the brutalities of some herdsmen not of their animals. Obviously, we need animals as much as we need automobile “spare parts” as Malami SAN maintained because we don’t solely rely on animals for meat, as we need their skins to manufacture clothes, blankets, furniture (leather), gloves, bags, shoes, caps, shelters, etc; and even their bones to produce chalks for learning. If these are the reasons for Animal Laws, I don’t know. But I believe that animals have some rights for good survival and posture — as humans, no matter the issue of geography or demography, are prone to need animals in one way or the other.

To me, it’s part of compassion to be kind to animals, even if their owners do not understand the meaning of life and love !

Meanwhile, the Government should do everything not only possible but necessary to hamstring some herdsmen’s atrocities, although we need to stop talking against animals and rearing as Almighty God wouldn’t have created such animals and their posture if He knows them as danger to our survival.

The problems of all those deadly herdsmen are ignorance and lack of civilization. Therefore, the Government should endeavor to initiate programs that will educate herdsmen as to relevance of life and love. The Government should teach them the absolute value of peace. The Government should teach them the complete rights and sanctity of men.

There is no doubt that the herders that take lives, rob, commit rapes, and trespasses are far away from circle of religion be it Christianity or Islam. They are lacking in religious knowledge and doctrines and that is why they are lacking in compassion. They are lacking in religious knowledge and doctrines and that is why they don’t know the value of lives. They are lacking in knowing the divine consequences for every man who takes others’ lives for granted, and unnecessarily ( I mean without any justification of Law), and that is why they kill. They might not even know that there will be life after death, as they might not even know that there will be a day of reckoning looking at how we hear them kill as if there will be no tomorrow.

The Government should do something to educate herdsmen on humanity, apart from focusing on what their animals should eat in every State of Nigeria. If Government does this, it got a way to solve herdsmen’s problems as well as the gross inhumanity that comes from them !
