Dear NBA PRESIDENT, OLUMIDE AKPATA,

The lizard that fell from an Iroko tree said it would praise himself if no one deemed it fit to praise it. God forbid that that any person in his right thinking faculty will feign ignorance of the numerous great strides your administration has made within this short period of time, hence the need to pour encomium on your administration to fulfill the scripture which says honour and praise should be given to whom it is due. Kudos to you sir! Well done!

A microscopic x-ray of your administration will reveal a lot of achievements ranging from your effort to put off the fire of division that erupted NBA sometimes last year which looked like a devil wearing human face and which purported to bear the name NNBA. We are also not ignorant of how you fought the supposed amendment of RPC which would have watered down the legal PROFESSION. Also, your support for the fight by JUSUN to ensure that financial Autonomy and it’s appurtenances become a reality to the Judicial Arm of the Government, goes further to show how willing and ready you are to ensure you leave an indelible mark during your administration. In a nutshell, your administration so far, has been proactive, responsible and responsive. Kudos to you and your team.

Mr President, the purpose of this open letter is not to castigate or do a critique of your administration, rather, it is geared towards reminding you of your pledge to improve the welfare of Young lawyers. In other words, this open letter is in form of an appeal to your office to endeavour to beam the light of your leadership goodness towards the welfare of young lawyers.

Your Excellency sir, it is true that since your administration, many peculiar issues have arisen which tends to act as distractions, while some are inevitable and deserves urgent attention, and your response so far has been great, hence, we have no choice than to applaud you for all your efforts so far. Although, YOUNG LAWYERS are beneficiaries of the free packs of seal that your administration gave upon payment of practicing fees, yet, like Oliver Twist would say, “we want more”. The young lawyers want to feel the impact of your administration as earlier promised.

Mr. President, “do something before something begin to do the young lawyers”. The peanuts that most young lawyers receive under the guise of salary is disheartening to say the least. You had promised to do something about this, we are still waiting.

Mr. President, your predecessor, Paul Usoro’s administration, gave young lawyers the opportunity to have access to the LAW PAVILION for one year, and this privilege will expire soon, and I wish to passionately plead for an extension of same. Sir, we pray your administration to grant us an additional time within which to enjoy the LAW PAVILION subscription as a way of improving the welfare of your lawyers., Without prejudice to any other plan your administration has for the young lawyers.

Respectfully your Excellency, you know how the young lawyers fought to ensure you become the NBA PRESIDENT, don’t disappoint the Young lawyers. Do not allow the emerging issues to distract you from fulfilling your promises to young lawyers. We are waiting! God is watching!

Respectfully,

C OBILOR ( [email protected]; 08069395552)
