The Department of State Services, DSS, has denied arresting Father Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries in Enugu State.
DSS spokesman, Dr Peter Afunanya said Mbaka was not in its custody.
Afunanya disclosed this while reacting to the protest over Mbaka’s alleged disappearance after he rebuked President Muhammadu Buhari.
“This is not true. Fr Mbaka was not picked up by the DSS. Rev Fr Mbaka is not with the DSS. The DSS did not pick him up, please,” he told The Nation.
Some Parishioners had embarked on a protest in Enugu afternoon over Mbaka’s alleged disappearance.
Mbaka was said to have been last seen on Tuesday evening.
His disappearance resulted in a 48-hour ultimatum by youths of the city to the Federal Government, warning it to produce Mbaka.
Mbaka had recently called for Buhari’s impeachment if he fails to resign over the state of insecurity in Nigeria.
Reacting, the Presidency had alleged that the cleric’s failure to secure contracts was responsible for his attacks.
