The Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a joint security operation responsible for the maintenance of peace in Plateau State has paraded two men, Abdulmumuni and Mohammed Sani, for allegedly involving in the recent killing at Miango community of Bassa Local Government Area of the State.
DAILY POST recalls that armed men suspected to be Fulani militia had on 2nd of February, 2021, ambushed two natives in Miango community, leading to the death of one Mr. Raphael Bawa, 39 years old, while the other, Mr Aga Mabo sustained serious injuries.
DAILY POST also gathered that the incident, however, generated a reprisal, leading to deaths of humans and cattle.
According to the Commander of the OPSH, Major General Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, “Responding to the incident, troops of OPSH arrested the two suspects,
Abdulmumuni and Mohammed Sani, who had in their possession rifle and a cash totalling N190, 000 in a nearby market in Miango village.
He said, “When interrogated, they were unable to explain how they got the money and rifle.
The Commander, however, said, investigation is still ongoing to determine their involvement in the renewed killing.
In a related development, Okonkwo said, the OPSH has also arrested 21 other suspects connected to various crimes with a high profile kidnap kingpin, one Adamu Umar, during the rescue operation.
He explained that, Umar had kidnapped one Zuwaria Mohammed, a female who lives in Jos.
The OPSH said Umar lured his victim, claiming to have some items to sell and then held her captive and demanded a ransom of N2 million from her husband.
According to the OPSH, “The husband reported to the OPSH and was advised to agree to pay the ransom and a collection point was agreed.
“Own troops stormed the location, arrested the abductor and rescued the victim,” he explained.
The OPSH added that the kidnapper had been arrested on two occasions in the past and is on the wanted list of the Police Anti Kidnapping Squad.
The Commander, however, said hoodlums earlier arrested are already being prosecuted in court.
