The family of the former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju has disclaimed the rumour that the ex-Governor is no more alive, noting that such is untrue and not factual.

TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that there has been report making a rounds that he died, which necessitated the family to issue a statement to clarify the state of things.

In a statement issued on behalf of the family by Chetachi Mbadinuju, Esq., he stated that their father is alive, but only suffers from a little illness associated with people in his mid-seventies.

“For the past hours, our family has been inundated with calls about the rumour milling around of the death of His Excellency, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, (Odera), our father. This is to clarify the issues surrounding the rumour.

“His Excellency, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju is very much alive, he is very healthy, and only suffers the symptoms associated with any person in his mid-seventies.

“I want to appreciate all those who through calls have sought the true position of the circumstances. I thank everyone for their concerns, and caution those who are spreading the unfounded rumour to please desist from such.

“Only God has the power of life and death.

Once, more thank you all for your concerns; and wishing everyone a Prosperous New Year”, he stated.

Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju served as the Anambra State Governor between May 1999 and 2003 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He was born on 14th day of June, 1945. He obtained his B.A in Political Science after which he proceeded to get a Law degree, attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to Bar.

In addition, he is an Associate Professor of Politics & African Studies at the State University of New York.

Also, before becoming the Governor, he had served as personal assistant to Governor of the old Enugu State, Dr. Jim Chris Nwobodo, between 1979 and 1980 and later, personal assistant to President Shehu Shagari between 1980 and 1983.
