Mr. Oluwaseyi Olawumi An aspirant in the forthcoming Election of the Nigerian Bar Association Ikeja Branch, has dragged the Incorporated Trustees Of Nigerian Bar Association and five others to the high Court of Lagos over his disqualification in the forth coming election of the branch.

Mr. Olawumi had been cleared as eligible candidate for the forthcoming Election of the branch before the disqualification.

In the Originating process filed by Counsel to the Claimant, Oludare Falana, Mr. Olawumi is asking the Court for an Order Of Interim Injunction restraining the Defendants either by themselves, their agents, privies, whosoever and howsoever described from applying the provisions of Article 6(3) of the Nigerian Bar Association, Uniform Bye-laws 2015 (As Amended) retrospectively or retroactively pending/until the determination of the Originating Summons/Substantive suit herein.”

Mr. Olawumi is also asking the Court for “an Order Of Interim Injunction restraining the Defendants either by themselves, their agents, privies, whosoever and howsoever described from precluding and/or excluding the Claimant herein from participating in the NBA Ikeja Branch elections slated for 25th September 2020 or any other date.

He further wants the Court to grant an Interim Injunction restraining the Defendants either by themselves, their agents, privies, whosoever and howsoever described from conducting the NBA Ikeja Branch Elections slated 25th September, 2o20.

From the Court Papers filed on 18th September, 2020, other defendants in the suit are: The President, Nigerian Bar Association, The General Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Bisi Ade-Ademuwagun, Mr. Adegbamigbe Omole, Mr. Monday Ubani.

A date is yet to be fixed on the matter.
