“Always plan ahead, it wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark”
~ Richard Cushing.
The release of 15 point agenda for young lawyers by Babatunde Ajibade SAN had quelled the daily preoccupation of Nigerian lawyers (New wigs in particular) about welfare and progress. Ajibade SAN had pounded the issue heavily and pushed it to a dark cemetery, only history can make the issue indelible on paper. But, that is only possible if we give our utmost support and cooperation now and after Ajibade SAN ascend unto the power mantle.
The grand agenda of Babatunde Ajibade SAN reminded me of what the wise Bob Anderson when he says:
” Leaders set agenda for the future“.
More so, the crux of Ajibade SAN’s agenda revolves around progress and welfare, this signifies the real definition of leadership, like what Benjamin Desraili said:
” Power has only one duty- to secure the social welfare of the people“.
Truth be told, the Ajibade SAN’s 15 point agenda had successfully captured the epicenter of Nigeria’s legal profession’s problem as he talked about remuneration, harassment, integration of lawyers into the activities of the Bar, expansion of employment opportunities for lawyers, and eradication of quack practices in the profession among others. Below is the link to 15 point agenda for further details:

The glad tidings about the agenda, is the ability of Ajibade SAN to plan the possible and let the impossible unplanned. His promises are realistic and plain. Ajibade SAN wants to implement policies that will last long after his service to the Nigerian Bar Association. This like the saying of Shareel Sandberg:
“Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure the impact lasts in your absence“.
If I may have the latitude of admonition, I would tell lawyers especially, those eligible to vote to remember that, today is our opportunity to build a better tomorrow, and building a better tomorrow all depends on pursuing reality and avoiding eye candy and quick fix. Let us join hands and build a good fortune for ourselves and the generation of lawyers yet to come. Remember a wise saying that:
“Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”.
~Warren Buffett .
Finally, to Ajibade’s supporters who believe in realistic progress against utopia. Below are four tips for our success in this great journey:
“Plan purposefully, prepare prayerfully, proceed positively and pursue persistently.”
~ William A. Ward.
A United Bar is coming for us all. I Stand with Ajibade SAN as NBA President 2020.
