The Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has received commendations for silencing his critics with remarkable governance that has greatly enhanced the state’s development.

Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), shared his praise during a media interaction in Gombe at the 2025 International Workers Conference held at the First Baptist Church, Gombe.

He highlighted the noticeable positive transformation in Bauchi, saying, “Walking through the streets of Bauchi, I could see clear improvements. The state capital is now a model of cleanliness and beauty, with well-maintained streets and no potholes to disrupt traffic flow.”

Rev. Akanji went on to applaud the city’s overall aesthetic, noting how its structures were neatly painted and maintained. He added that the city’s improvement reflects a deliberate effort at beautification that has inspired others to follow suit.

The NBC President also drew attention to the area around the Governor’s Office, likening it to the prestigious structures of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He remarked, “I’m not surprised by these developments because Governor Bala Mohammed was previously the FCT Minister, where he demonstrated an ability to manage a complex, diverse environment. If you can handle the FCT, you can handle any state in Nigeria.”

Rev. Akanji further emphasized that managing the FCT requires balancing the diverse needs of its people, which Governor Bala Mohammed accomplished with great skill. His success in transforming Bauchi, he said, was a direct result of this experience.

Reflecting on their long-standing professional relationship, Rev. Akanji recalled working with Governor Bala Mohammed for six years when he served as the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the FCT. He praised the Governor for his role in fostering religious harmony, ensuring both Christians and Muslims participated in key festivals, prayers, and national events together.

Rev. Akanji also praised the Governor’s inclusive governance style, describing it as one with a “human face” that worked to ensure resources and benefits were evenly distributed across the state’s six local governments. He noted the Governor’s efforts to ensure land was used effectively, providing land to those in need for development.

Finally, Rev. Akanji extended his appreciation to the Governor’s wife, Aisha Bala Mohammed, for her philanthropic work in empowering women in Bauchi, further supporting her husband’s mission for a progressive and inclusive state.
