On Thursday, December 19, 2024, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, delivered the convocation lecture at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) during its 2024 Convocation Ceremony.
The lecture, titled “Harnessing Technological Innovations in Teaching and Learning: A Call to Transform Education in Nigeria,” explored the critical need for Nigeria to embrace technology in education to equip its students for a rapidly evolving global landscape.
During the lecture, the NBA President emphasized the need for urgent reforms in teaching methods, curriculum design, and the integration of technological innovations into learning processes. He highlighted that education should not only aim to impart knowledge but must also prepare students for real-world challenges by adopting global best practices.
Drawing from his personal experiences as an alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, challenged institutions to step up and embrace transformative practices that foster creativity, critical thinking, and innovation. “Education must transcend rote learning and become a tool for empowering the next generation to thrive in a digital age,” he remarked.
The event also marked a significant milestone as the NBA President was conferred with an honorary degree by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. This recognition highlights his outstanding contributions to the legal profession, education advocacy, and national development.
