The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command on Thursday revealed that its operatives have successfully arrested seven members of ‘one-chance’ syndicate operating within Abuja.

Newsmen recalls that the command had on November 26, declared war on the ‘one chance’ criminal elements, who have been causing mayhem in the nation’s capital.

Addressing journalists at the command’s headquarters on Thursday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan stated that the efforts of the operatives paid off recently with the arrest of seven suspects and recovery of about 13 vehicles and other exhibits.
The CP explained that operatives of the command initially arrested one Hyacinth Avetse, a prominent member of a high-profile “one-chance” syndicate, at the Area 1 Roundabout.

According to the CP, the suspect admitted to joining the syndicate in February 2023 and that he had earned over N1.4 million from their dubious activities.

The CP noted that the arrest of Hyacinth provided critical leads that advanced investigations into other syndicate members, leading to the arrest of the six others.

He said a total of 13 vehicles, three POS machines, five laptops, three phones, two hundred and three dollars, one hundred and nine phone memory cards, one blindfold and one plier were recovered from the seven suspects.
