A former senator who represented Kaduna Central in the national assembly, Shehu Sani has hinted at the cause of the rising tension at the Kano Emir’s palace.

The tension escalated early Friday morning when police officers in advanced gear surrounded the Emir of Kano’s palace, starting as early as 6 a.m.

Newsmen gathered that the situation might not be unconnected to Emir Muhammadu Sanusi’s plans to appoint a district head for Bichi town.
In a post via X, he stated, “In the interest of peace, there should be serious restraint in the application of force, might, and power over the Kano emirship tussle.”

This is not the first controversy surrounding the Kano emirship.

Recall in May, former Emir Aminu Ado Bayero was dethroned by Governor Abba Yusuf while he was away and replaced with the reinstatement of the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was quickly moved to the Kofar Kudu palace.

Bayero later returned to the state and settled at the Nassarawa mini palace, resulting in court cases both supporting and opposing the state government’s decision.
