President Bola Tinubu has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, urging an end to Israeli aggression that has brought “immeasurable suffering” to countless lives.

Speaking at the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to a two-state solution, where Israelis and Palestinians can coexist in security and dignity.

In his address, Tinubu highlighted the enduring impact of the conflict in Palestine, stating, “The conflict in Palestine has persisted for far too long, inflicting immeasurable suffering on countless lives.”

He urged nations committed to justice and human rights to act beyond “empty condemnations” and prioritize an end to hostilities, focusing on the principles of proportionality and civilian protection.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, noted that the summit aimed to build on the 2023 Riyadh discussions, focusing on peace and stability in the Middle East.

Tinubu’s call underscored a moral responsibility to end the violence, asserting that no political or security goal should come at the expense of innocent lives.
