The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)’s National Executive Council recently convened in Enugu on 8th November 2024 marked a significant milestone, being the first meeting under the leadership of our new President, Afam Mazi Osigwe, SAN. The gathering provided a valuable platform for members to engage and discuss pressing legal matters and the future direction of our association.

The agenda, particularly the President’s address at the meeting was thoughtfully crafted, focusing on critical issues facing our legal community. Highlights included discussions on legal reforms, ethical practices, and the role of the NBA in promoting justice and equity. Members expressed gratitude for the opportunity to voice their thoughts, reflecting a strong commitment to collaborative governance.

This meeting not only set a positive tone for the NBA’s future but also reaffirmed President Mazi Afam Osigwe’s leadership role in guiding us towards collective progress. The Branch looks forward to greater engagement and continued collaboration among all branches in the coming meetings.

The Branch’s Chairman, SMH Kosemani Esq along with his counterpart from Offa Branch extend their heartfelt appreciation to the President for his timely organization of the NEC meeting in a different way than what used to be obtainable in the past. The Chairman of the branch, SMH Kosemani Esq being the branch that produced the General Secretary is proud of Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara, the General Secretary of the bar being part of this present administration. He said the leadership qualities of the present executive under the leadership of Afam Mazi Osigwe SAN were on full display, fostering an environment where every member felt encouraged to contribute. The inclusive nature of the discussions allowed for a diverse range of opinions to be shared and respected, reinforcing the democratic values that the NBA upholds.

The meeting was well-attended, featuring active participation from the Bar leaders, past General Secretaries, SANs, Chairmen and Secretaries of the Branches, and observers, adding valuable insights to the discussions. This collaborative representation strengthened our collective voice and emphasized the unity among the branches and the NBA as a whole.
