Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has received the prestigious award of excellence as the 2024 Best Civil Service-Loving Governor in Nigeria.
The award was presented by Oluwole Adeleye, President of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) and Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for the Southwest Zone, according to a statement issued on Friday by Kolapo Alimi, Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment.
Receiving the award, Adeleke, represented by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, expressed gratitude to the state’s workforce for their cooperation with his administration. He attributed his administration’s ability to fulfill many electoral promises to divine grace and the support of Osun workers. Adeleke appealed for continued collaboration from the workforce to advance the state’s development.
Presenting the award, Adeleye commended Adeleke for his exceptional performance and positive engagement with workers. “This award recognizes the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare, which has directly influenced the socio-economic, human capital, and infrastructural development of Osun State,” Adeleye said.
He further praised Adeleke’s governance style, citing the governor’s prompt salary payments, provision of palliatives to mitigate economic hardship, and the promotion, conversion, and career advancement of civil servants as key reasons for the recognition.
Adeleye assured that the NCSU would maintain its advocacy for good governance and continue pushing for improved welfare for Nigerian workers.
