Abuja – Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, announced that commercial buses and taxis will no longer be allowed to pick up or drop off passengers on Abuja roads. This decision comes after his inspection of the ongoing construction of the Kugbo and Mabushi bus terminals.
Wike emphasized that once the terminals are completed, all commercial transportation will be restricted to operating within these facilities. He expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating, “I’m thrilled with the work at the Mabushi terminal, which was launched in July. In just three months, significant progress has been made.”
While the project is expected to take 15 months, the contractor anticipates an earlier completion by January 2025. Wike also confirmed that issues delaying the Abuja Central Business District terminal have been resolved, with work set to commence soon.
The minister is confident that these reforms will enhance the transportation system in the capital and significantly improve the city’s infrastructure.
