Nigerian singer Oxlade bravely shared his heart-wrenching experience with racial abuse in France on a recent episode of ‘The Datebizz’ podcast.

“I’ll never forget the day I was racially abused in Monaco,” Oxlade emotionally recounted. “It was a wake-up call, a harsh reminder of the African stigma that exists outside our continent. But instead of breaking me, it fueled my pride in being African.”

He continued, “Growing up in Africa, I never felt ‘different.’ But that moment made me realize how others see us – as lesser, as ‘monkeys’ or ‘strange beings.’ It’s a painful truth, but it also sparked something within me.”

Oxlade’s powerful response? Naming his debut album ‘Oxlade From Africa’ – a bold declaration of his heritage and resilience.
