The suspects, identified as 32-year-old Emmanuel (also known as Ozon), Samuel Sunday Idoko (39), Tolulope Ilesanmi (21), Sanusi Daniel (29), and 20-year-old Ogunkoya Victor (alias Emo), were apprehended for their involvement in burglarizing shops and stealing armored cable wires from transformers.
According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by victims of the burglary.
She revealed that the suspects were part of a syndicate that had been operating in the area.

“On October 4, 2024, at approximately 8:30 PM, the police at Igbeba Police Station received information regarding a member of the syndicate involved in burglarizing shops and stealing armored cable wires from transformers in Ijebu Ode and its surroundings,” Odutola told Journalists on Thursday.
She explained that officers acted swiftly on a tip-off and arrested the first suspect, Emmanuel, near the Ijebu Ilese Toll Gate.
During interrogation, Emmanuel confessed to being part of the group and provided leads that resulted in the arrest of four other suspects.
The suspects admitted to burglarizing an electronics store owned by Anayo Sunday James at Bobadara Junction, Igbeba Road, Ijebu Ode, on February 20, 2024, and stealing armored cables from transformers on Igbeba Road and other locations in Ijebu Ode.
Items recovered from the suspects include an iron cutter, drilling machine, cutting machine, hammer, screwdriver, and iron chisel.
Odutola added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the group and recover additional stolen property.
