Zamfara State Government has given red signal to communities harbouring bandits, threatening to demolish such villages.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor of the State, Malam Mani Mummuni, when he visited Tsafe Emirate to console the community over the killing of nine members of the Zamfara State local security outfit, Community Protection Guards, CPG who were ambushed by bandits along the Tsafe-Funtua road.

He specifically mentioned the Maikwanugga community, accusing its residents of harbouring bandits by providing shelter and foodstuffs.

According to him, the village, located less than half a kilometer from the main road, allowed the bandits to spend the night before launching the deadly attack on the CPG operatives who were deployed to protect travelers.

“The village is just less than half a kilometer from the main road, but they decided to be used by bandits against our security operatives, who are working to secure lives and properties of innocent people,” he lamented.

Mummuni pointed out that the government would not tolerate the actions of betrayers working against the State’s efforts and those of security agencies in curbing insecurity.

Speaking further, he said that banditry has claimed thousands of lives and destroyed property worth billions of Naira.
