Achieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has claimed that the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari spent its eight-year tenure correcting the economic missteps of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking on Channels TV, Morka claimed that the Buhari-led government, which spanned 2015-2023, was preoccupied with cleaning up the “phantom economy” created by the PDP, which ruled Nigeria from 1999 to 2015.
“The Buhari administration did nothing in eight years but to clean and mop up the mess made by the PDP,” Morka said, stressing that the current crisis has its roots in the phantom economy created by the PDP.

According to Morka, billions of naira meant for national projects under the PDP leadership were diverted into private pockets, leaving the economy in shambles.
Morka further asserted that the Buhari government worked to address the lingering economic challenges.

Buhari, who ruled from 2015 to 2023, took over from the PDP’s long-running rule and later handed over power to President Tinubu in May 2023.

Morka argued that the current hardship in Nigeria was a consequence of 16 years of mismanagement under the PDP, which the APC-led administration is now working to correct.

He claimed that the challenges were “generationally constructed,” with the PDP leadership being responsible for “heinous, abominable crimes” that plagued the country during their tenure.
“Buhari’s administration was merely an interim government, stepping in to steer Nigeria away from disaster,” Morka stated, urging Nigerians to be patient with the Tinubu government, which he believes will fulfill its promises.
