The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the judgment in a suit challenging the appointment of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Initially set for Wednesday, September 18, the court has now shifted the ruling to September 23 due to the judgment not being ready.

The case, filed by the North Central APC Forum, led by Saleh Zazzaga, questions the legality of Ganduje’s appointment. The plaintiff argues that Ganduje, hailing from Kano State in the North West, should not have been appointed to replace Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who is from Nasarawa State in the North Central zone. The suit claims this violates the APC’s constitution, specifically Article 31.5(1) f, which mandates that a replacement must come from the same geo-political zone as the outgoing official.

In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024, Ganduje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are listed as defendants. The plaintiff is asking the court to restrain Ganduje from acting as APC Chairman and to nullify all actions taken by the party since his appointment on August 3, 2023.

The court is expected to deliver its judgment on September 23.
