Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully commissioned a new 1×100 megavolt amperes 132/33 kilovolt power transformer at its substation in Maryland, Lagos State.

TCN disclosed this in a statement on its official X account on Saturday.

According to the company, the commissioning was held at the Maryland Substation in Lagos State on Friday.

The facility will increase the capacity of the substation from 90 megavolt amperes to 190MVA, bringing the capacity of the substation to 152MW.

With the commissioning, more bulk electricity supply will be available to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company for customers in Maryland, and other parts of Lagos State.

“This means there is more bulk power available for Ikeja DisCo to offtake to its customers in Maryland, part of Anthony, Ikeja, Mile 12, Ojota, Ketu, Alausa, 7up and environs.

“This project is part of the ongoing collaboration of TCN with FGN Power Ltd to improve bulk power transmission in Nigeria,” it stated.
