Society for Notaries Public holds two-day training for practitioners

The Society for Notaries Public (SNP), in collaboration with ToNote Technologies, has held a two-day training to equip notaries with the latest innovations, insights, and strategies needed to enhance their practice.

Held at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) secretariat, (Ikeja Branch), who are Co-sponsors, the workshop elaborated on the recent amendments to the Evidence Act 2023 and the Notary Public Act 2023 and stated how practitioners can use the laws to expand, render effective services, and comply with the latest legal standards.

Equally, the workshop stressed that standarding notarial practice in Nigeria would stop the currently observed inconsistencies in the practice and restore trust in it.

The training also enlightened the participants on ways to optimise their practice, using ToNote’s advanced digital solutions. According to the Operatioms Lead Mr. Ife Martins, who stated that “ToNote Technologies offers remote online notarizations, e-affidavits, and secure document verification, all of which would enhance efficiency, reduce fraud, and improve client experience”.

“The integration of technology,” SNP said, “will modernise notarial practices in Nigeria, while notaries public generally are urged to join the society to gain access to a wealth of resources, training opportunities, and a network of professionals dedicated to upholding the highest standards of practice.”

Speaking, Muyiwa Ayojimi, honorary secretary, Society for Notaries Public, said, “A key goal for us as a Society is to standardize the Notarial practice in Nigeria. There is much to be done, and this workshop is one of many important steps in that direction.”

The Chairman of the NBA Ikeja branch Mr. Seyi Olawumi stated that ” The Bar will continue to support the Society’s programs and activities as it aims to boost the earnings of the practitioners”
