Following a discreet trailing, the Monitoring Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo Base, Durbar, Oyo State, has nabbed and arraigned a suspected fake lawyer identified as Lukman Olayiwola, (38).
He was arraigned before Magistrate S.T. Tolani-Balogun at Court No 2, Oyo on Wednesday, August 14.
The accused person was, however, granted bail after pleading not guilty to a two-count charge offence preferred against him.
The Prosecutor, Fola Osegbade, did not oppose the grant of application. The case was therefore adjourned to October 3, 2024, for hearing.
The Nigerian Bar Association, Oyo Branch, who has been monitoring the case right from the time of the arrest till the arraignment said it will ensure that the prosecution was properly done to a logical conclusion.
A strong team of the NBA Oyo Branch members led by a former Secretary of the branch, O.Ashade held the watching brief of the Bar during the arraignment.
Other counsel that watched the brief were B.A Oyelami (the Branch Financial Secretary), M.B Olafenwa (Branch Young Lawyers Forum’s Secretary, L.C Ezejideakwu, and M.K Idowu.
NBA Oyo Branch under the Chairmanship of Mr Olajide Olanipekun, in a statement, commended the proactiveness of the Nigeria Police Force for arresting the accused person during their investigation of an allegation of crime when Mr Lukman Olayiwola (the Accused person) presented himself as a lawyer. The Bar said it will leave no stone unturned to rid its rank of fake lawyers.
