The Kaduna State Police Command has debunked a rumour alleging that an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) was hijacked by protesters.

This came in response to a viral video that has been widely circulated on social media, which shows a tense confrontation between a large group of protesters and the driver of the APC.

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed that, contrary to rumours, the vehicle was not taken over by the protesters.

The statement read, “The video in question depicts a situation where the driver of the APC was confronted by a large group of protesters. In the face of escalating tension, the driver made a professional and commendable decision to avoid the use of live ammunition. Instead, he employed a tactical manoeuvre to safely escape the scene, ensuring the safety of both the protesters and the officers involved.”

“It is important to stress that at no point was the APC hijacked by hoodlums. The vehicle and its personnel remained under the control of the Kaduna State Police Command throughout the incident,” the police affirmed.

Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, has called on the residents of Kaduna to continue to uphold law and order. “We appreciate the support and cooperation of the public in these challenging times and remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” he stated.

The incident occurred against a backdrop of ongoing protests in Kaduna State, where protests have sprung up across the nation against bad governance and hunger in Nigeria.
